Standard Ethics is unique, specialised, and focuses solely on ESG rating activities within the European Union. It does not engage in any ancillary activities that could potentially give rise to conflicts of interest.

The Agency is based in Milan and operates within the framework of the EU Regulation 2024/3005 on ESG rating providers.

Its governance model is built around a single principle: to ensure that every rating issued is the exclusive result of  independent analysis, free from any commercial, ownership or external pressure that might influence it.

The Agency’s name was chosen to convey that if there is to be an ethic behind extra-financial policies, then it should be a shared, global, standard ethic: that which already unites the supranational organisations. The European Union flag, which best symbolizes this unity, was the inspiration behind our logo and the reason for the Standard Ethics Rating (SER).

Standard Ethics aims to promote Sustainability and governance standard principles as recommended by those supranational organisations, namely the European Union, the OECD and the United Nations.
